Joe Pinheiro

Joe is a respected leader in the Canadian mortgage industry whose impact spans over three decades. Beginning his career as a mortgage broker in Cambridge, Ontario in 1990, Joe quickly established himself not only as a skilled professional, but also as a mentor, educator, and advocate for industry growth and integrity.

A founding member of Mortgage Alliance in 1998, Joe played a pivotal role in expanding the Ontario South West region into the company’s largest market in Canada. He rose to the position of Vice President of Sales in 2004, managing eight Regional Sales Managers and overseeing a tenfold growth in mortgage volumes—from $2 billion to over $10 billion. Joe advance to the position of CEO of Mortgage Alliance in 2018. Joe is recognized for recruiting, mentoring, and training thousands of mortgage agents, many of whom now lead successful careers thanks to his guidance.

In 2020, Joe joined Dominion Lending Centres as Senior Vice President of Network Development. Today, he oversees the sales activities of Mortgage Centre Canada, Mortgage Architects, and Dominion Lending Centres, leading a team of eight Vice Presidents across the DLCG group. Known for his unwavering professionalism, Joe brings warmth and accessibility to every interaction—especially when welcoming new agents into the industry, which remains one of his greatest joys.

A passionate educator, Joe dedicated 22 consecutive years to teaching mortgage licensing and financing courses, instructing more than 15,000 agents across Ontario. He revamped and led mortgage financing curriculum at Seneca College, where he earned the prestigious "Teacher of the Year" award and consistently received top evaluations. Joe also introduced mortgage agent programs at Fanshawe College and Conestoga College, significantly broadening access to mortgage education across the province.

Joe’s leadership extends well beyond the classroom. He is the only two-time Chair of CAAMP and MPC, and the longest-serving board member in the association’s history, with 13 years of service—seven of those at the executive level. He chaired key committees including Government Relations, Ethics, Education, and Events, and played a critical role in shaping the Mortgage Brokers and Lenders Act of 2006. Joe continues to serve on the MPC Charitable Foundation board and formerly chaired the MPC Foundation, advocating for safe, secure homeownership for underserved communities.

A dedicated charitable supporter, Joe was a founding rider of the MAC Rally of Hope, which raised over $1 million for the Canadian Cancer Society through annual cross-country motorcycle rides. He actively supports Shelter Movers, a non-profit organization assisting victims of domestic abuse, and has participated in numerous marathons, walks, and rides to raise funds and awareness for cancer research and support.

At the heart of Joe’s life are his daughters, Emily and Brooklyn. Emily, 35, is a successful mortgage broker in Cambridge, mentored by Joe himself, while Brooklyn, 30, serves as a dedicated paramedic in Halifax. Joe's unwavering dedication to his girls has always been his "why."

Joe shares his life with his partner Lucy Biocca, also a mortgage broker, and together they enjoy the quiet joy of cottage life, cooking, fishing, and planning their next adventure. A former guitar instructor at the age of 15 with the Ontario Conservatory of Music, Joe remains an avid guitar player and handyman, always working on his next project with enthusiasm and skill.

Passionate, humble, and generous, Joe treats everyone with respect and always steps up to serve. Whether in a boardroom, classroom, or at a charity event, Joe is known for his leadership, kindness, and lifelong commitment to the mortgage industry and the people it serves.
